Welcome to my world of alright cars that never quite make it the whole hog. I started off as a dirty 16 year old pining for a mk4 polo so i could make my mark n roll in style. At the time a 50cc mo-ped got me around and as much fun as bikes were i knew that 4 wheels was the better option. My 17th birthday came and went and i started learning to drive for like a month and a half before running out of money. 3 months later i'd saved up enough for the rest of my lessons, passed my theory in the meantime and was ready to crack on. One day i came home and my dad had a huge grin on his face, i asked whats up and he did the classic father son thing of "Son, we've got you your first car." At this point i really didn't know what to think. He knew all i wanted was a silver mk4 polo had he come off trumps and got me it or had he gone out and found me a yellow cicquento like he always said he would. So of course i replied "where is it?" He told me there whereabouts of the suprise and i stumbled round the corner to my neighbours driveway to see........

16k on the clocks, one elderly lady owner who'd died, possibly the cleanest one i'd ever seen. Meh it wasn't what i wanted but at least it was a volkswagen and with a good mate of mine having the GT coupe version at the time i wasn't too disheartened as i could use my fresh knowledge of the early polo and all their quirks i.e fucking terrible front suspension setup and lack of subframe to make it a bit more my own. So I did, 40mm springs and come clear indicators and a badgeless grille were aquired, stereo was built and installed and some mk4 polo steels were fitted becuase i could afford proper wheels! It wasn't going too bad....

Until i nudged a kerb after a tad of understeer on a nice greasy roundabout, this bent what was a perfectly good car and i had to get rid. I downgraded to a mk2 polo breadvan for a while but have no evidence of this and also bought another mk3 breadvan which was a battered GT i found on the way home from work and bought there and then for £100.

I cleaned it and sold it to a local lad for 3 times what i paid, he in turn through 5 grands worth of audio in it then got in massive debt sold the car back to me and a mate for £50 and i bought some of his expensive audio too for peanuts and sold it all on for masses of profit. In the meantime through my various frequenting of Volkswagen forums I'd discovered that mk2 where ever so popular and seemed like a cool thing to get next so i did...

Biggest waste of time ever, well i thought anyway BUT in its defense it loved being driven over fields n shit in the summer so i had a laugh with it but it was boring, drank fuel like nothing i ever came across, flet more like a boat on the road than a car and had 5 doors. I rest my case. Anyway I'd caught the bug for making good cars bad and i still wanted that mk4 polo so i started saving...
